Everton could be about to complete 'brilliant' Oleksandr Zinchenko signing - pundit

Paul Robinson has heaped praise on Oleksandr Zinchenko amid interest from Everton in the Man City midfielder.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England goalkeeper has been “really impressed” by the 25-year-old over the past 12 months.

According to the Liverpool Echo‘s Christopher Beesley (23 June), Zinchenko is an option for the Toffees this summer.

Frank Lampard is keen to bolster his midfield this summer with Fabian Delph’s contract expiring and Donny van de Beek returning to Old Trafford after a loan spell at Goodison Park.

Zinchenko has two years remaining on his contract at the Etihad.

When asked by Football Insider if Zinchenko could fill the void left by Delph given his ability to play in midfield as well as left-back, Robinson said: “Yes, there is similarities.

“If Zinchenko is surplus to requirements at Man City he would be a brilliant addition. He is a fantastic player.

“Obviously Everton lost Lucas Digne to Aston Villa and defensively they struggled last season.

“I have been really impressed with Zinchenko and the way he has handled himself with everything that is going on in his personal life. It is a lot to handle while playing at the top level of the sport. There is a lot to be admired.”

Zinchenko made 28 appearances across all competitions for City last season.

The Ukraine international provided five assists in those games.
