By Dominic Toner
Everton face tough competition from Monaco for the signature of Youri Tielemans, according to a report.
The Telegraph claim that the Toffees are interested in Anderlecht’s 19-year-old star, who is valued at £20.9million.
It is understood that the Merseyside club regard him as a potential replacement for Ross Barkley if they decide to sell their academy player.
However, the report details that French club Monaco have targeted Tielemans and believe he would be a good way to reinvest their money, with several of their star players expected to leave in the summer.
Monaco have managed to reach the Champions League semi-finals and have an exciting young squad at their disposal, scoring 90 goals in 32 league games so far this season.

It is believed that Monaco’s promise of regular first-team football may gave them the edge over Everton in the race for the teenager.
Tielemans has been in sensational form for Anderlecht this campaign, scoring 18 goals and supplying 12 assists in 46 appearances.
The central midfielder featured during their recent elimination to Manchester United in the Europa League quarter-finals, but impressed with some assured performances.
Football Insider verdict:
Everton are moving in the right direction and Ronald Koeman looks like bringing European football back to Goodison Park. The Merseyside club will need some extra additions if they want to consistently compete at the top-end of the Premier League table, as well keeping the likes of Barkley and Romelu Lukaku. They could be in for a busy summer window if Koeman continues his plan and a move for Tielemans would be an excellent choice. The 19-year-old has already ben capped by Belgium’s senior national side and looks like one of the best upcoming talents in Europe. Everton would be sending out a real statement if they managed to capture him and his goals from midfield would be a real asset. However, they will need to be realistic that Monaco would be a great appeal for the teenager and the chance to play Champions League football could be too tempting.
In other Everton transfer news, they are set to reignite a bid to sign an attacker.
