‘Now, let’s get to work ‘ – Everton enforcer delivers huge fitness update to fans
Everton loanee and Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala has sent an Instagram message out to his followers after undergoing an operation on a knee injury.
The enforcer only made the switch to Merseyside from Manchester on transfer deadline day in January and sustained the suspected knee ligament damage on his second appearance for the Blues against Crystal Palace.
But on his official Instagram account, the 27-year-old delivered his statement of intent following his operation, and resiliently stated, ‘Now, let’s get to work.’
It is not known yet whether the Frenchman will be able to play any part in the remainder of Everton’s Premier League campaign or if the loan deal will be terminated so that the player can continue his rehabilitation at the champions-elect.
Mangala’s injury is a cruel blow to a player that was keen to be a part of France’s squad for the summer’s World Cup in Russia but that now looks highly unlikely.
The Toffees have struggled defensively all season and the player’s experience would likely have steadied the ship had the injury not cut short his career so far at Goodison Park.
