Everton have entered the race to sign Toulouse defender Issa Diop after monitoring him, according to a report.
The Daily Mail claims that the Toffees and Premier League new boys have eyed the Ligue 1 centre-back, while Arsenal, Tottenham, Inter Milan and Barcelona have also been on his trail in recent months.
It is understood that the 6ft 4in (source: Transfermarkt) French colossus is highly-rated by Toulouse, but they are willing to listen to offers for him this summer and want £26million.
Football Insider verdict:
Diop is a rising star in French football with huge potential and it seems likely he could join a new club this summer to help further his career. The 21-year-old really impressed in the French top flight in the 2017/18 season by captaining his side for large spells and helping them avoid relegation. He is a powerhouse defender that is physically imposing and also has a decent turn of pace. Diop appears to tick all the boxes that could make him a major success in English football and it’s no surprise Premier League teams have been circling. The Toulouse defender is certainly someone that Everton must consider swooping for and his £26million price tag could turn out to be a great investment if he reaches his full potential. Marco SIlva’s side are crying out for a new young centre-back ahead of next season and the rising star may be perfect at Goodison Park.
In other Everton news, they must abandon their £40m pursuit and turn their attention to a Championship flyer.
