Everton expert on ‘remarkable’ potential Ange Postecoglou appointment amid journalist’s Celtic reveal

Kevin Campbell has suggested Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou could recreate his “remarkable” success at Everton if he makes the move to the Premier League.

The former Arsenal and Toffees striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 57-year-old has made a “real difference” since coming to Parkhead as a “wildcard”.

Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (15 November) that Everton have decided to stand by Lampard and give him time to turn their season around following crunch talks at Goodison Park.

However, according to journalist Alan Nixon (13 November), Celtic boss Postecoglou is “top of the wishlist” for the Toffees should they part company with the former Chelsea boss.

The Australian, who won the Scottish Premiership in his first season at Parkhead, has previously dismissed reports linking him with vacancies at Wolves and Brighton.

Postecoglou is currently still on the 12-month rolling contract he signed when he joined Celtic.

Campbell told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I think Lampard is the man for the job right now.

“But who knows? He could be sacked next week.

“What Postecoglou has done at Celtic has been remarkable.

“He came with a resume that no one really knew too much about, as a wildcard – and he’s made a real difference.

“Could I see him taking that to Everton? Potentially.

“He’s got his own style and his own methods both on the pitch and in the transfer market. Why wouldn’t that work at Everton?”

Postecoglou’s Celtic sit nine points clear atop the Scottish Premiership – but have already been eliminated from European competition after finishing bottom of their Champions League group.

Meanwhile, Everton are 17th in the Premier League – one point above the relegation zone.
