Everton eye emerging PL star who can thrive in four different positions - report

By Alex Stevens

Everton are keeping close tabs on Manchester United defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah, according to a report.

Italian transfer site Calciomercato claim the Merseysiders are eyeing a second raid on Old Trafford following the January signing of Morgan Schneiderlin.

It is said that Everton scouts are keeping a close eye on Holland Under-21 international Fosu-Mensah, who has barely featured under Jose Mourinho this season.

Fosu-Mensah, 19, made the breakthrough under Louis van Gaal when he featured in 10 matches last season and was widely regarded as the second most exciting of the United academy products behind only Marcus Rashford.

But the versatile teenager, who can play at centre-back, both full-back positions and in the midfield anchorman role, has started just three games this season, while making a further four appearances as a substitute.

It will be difficult for Everton to prise Fosu-Mensah from Old Trafford as he signed a new contract only four months ago that ties him to the Premier League giants until 2020.

But Everton have already showed in the year-long ownership of billionaire majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri that they are willing to pay big money to secure their top targets.

In other Everton transfer news, the club have agreed the terms of an out-of-window striker transfer.
