'Another Jack Rodwell', 'Headless chicken' - Everton fans done with ace after defeat v Burnley

Everton fell to a 2-1 defeat away at Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday to resign the Blues to yet another away-day defeat.

It had all looked so promising for Sam Allardyce’s side when Cenk Tosun gave the Toffees a 20th minute lead after some excellent work in attack from a front three of Gylfi Sigurdsson, Theo Walcott, and the Turkish international.

Everton’s £27million January signing had an excellent game, both in attack and in defence but on Twitter it was the display of one of their own, Tom Davies, who was getting a hammering from supporters.

The 19-year-old midfielder was only recently named the fourth best prospect of players under 20 in Europe but judging by his performances this season, the Blues faithful couldn’t disagree more.

In a campaign where so much was expected of the Goodison Park outfit, the team have struggled to live up to expectations and Davies has been a passenger.

After a promising first season, 2017/18 couldn’t have been more disappointing for the youngster and this display was just a replica of many others gone before today.

And after the game, Everton fans went on Twitter to express how unhappy they were with the performance of Davies, who was described by one supporter as a ‘headless chicken,’ while another felt the midfielder needed time away from the first team.

Here is a selection of social media responses to the 19-year-old following the defeat:
