Everton fans react on Twitter to Holgate inclusion v Leicester

By Harvey Byrne

Ronald Koeman has handed Mason Holgate with his seventh start of the campaign against Leicester on Saturday – and Toffees supporters on Twitter have hailed the decision.

The 20-year-old defender was one of three changes in the starting eleven with Enner Valencia and Gareth Barry coming in to face the Foxes at Goodison Park in the FA Cup.

It is believed that Holgate will join a defensive three in the back line alongside Ramiro Funes Mori and Ashley Williams with Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman occupying the wing-back roles.

Toffees supporters on social media are happy to see youth given a chance and they were also pleased by the inclusion of 18-year-old Tom Davies in the team.

Holgate made the switch from Championship outfit Barnsley in the summer of 2015 for a fee of £2million.

He had to wait a year before making his debut with Koeman giving him a start in the season opening 1-1 draw with Tottenham.

He is considered a bright prospect and many fans will now be eagerly watching his development with the hope that he becomes a star.
