Everton fans have reacted with relief on Twitter after learning Tom Cleverley was set to join Watford until the end of the season.

Sky Sports reported on their website on Thursday morning that the 27-year-old is set to undergo a medical after agreeing a loan move to Vicarage Road.

This comes after Sky Sports revealed that Man United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin had passed a medical at Finch Farm and was in the final stages of completing a move to Merseyside.

Cleverley has slipped down the pecking order at Goodison Park under Ronald Koeman, with Gareth Barry, Idrissa Gueye and James McCarthy above him in the pecking order.

Everton fans have reacted on Twitter to the news, with some delighted to finally offload the 13-time England international. Some, though, were sympathetic with Cleverley.

Since his move to the Toffees in the summer of 2015, Cleverley has made a total of 42 appearances for the blue half of Merseyside. Scoring twice, he has also provided seven assists.

But the Toffee’s number 15 is now set to rejoin his former loan side Watford, after spending a season on loan with the Hornets during the 2009-10 season.

In other Everton transfer news, this striker is set to discuss personal terms after a transfer breakthrough.
