By Emma Sanders

Everton fans reacted with excitement on Twitter after the club announced they have signed Ademola Lookman on Thursday afternoon.

The 19-year-old forward has signed a new four-and-a-half year deal with the club and fans were excited to see pictures of the winger which emerged on Twitter shortly afterwards.

Everton’s official website revealed the news on Thursday afternoon but they did not disclose the fee paid for Lookman. The news was also confirmed on their official Twitter account.

BBC Sport claim the fee could rise to up to £11 million.

Lookman has joined from League One outfit Charlton and he becomes the club’s first signing of the transfer window. While plenty of fans were excited, there was concern by reports of such a large fee.

Here is a selection of the messages on Twitter:

The youngster has shown huge potential at Charlton and he broke in the first team last season and has gone on to become a regular squad member for the England under-20s.

Lookman is expected to be a replacement for Yannick Bolasie who suffered a serious knee injury which has ruled him out for the remainder of the season.

The winger has already scored seven goals and provided two assists in 25 appearances in all competitions for Charlton.

One Charlton fan offered a bit of help for any Everton fans not sure about who or what they were buying.

In other Everton transfer news, a midfielder has signed after the Merseysiders settled terms.
