Romelu Lukaku started upfront for Everton against his former club Chelsea on Saturday evening, but fans were left disappointed on Twitter claiming he didn’t show up.
Many expected the 23-year-old would look to impress against his old club, who he struggled to break into before joining the Toffees permanently.
Additionally, he spent large parts of the summer linked with a return to Stamford Bridge, while also speaking of his aspirations of playing at a higher level.
However, he was largely considered anonymous by fans on social media as his team lost 5-0 following goals from Marcos Alonso, Diego Costa, Pedro and an Eden Hazard double.
Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:
On the bright side, at least Lukaku won't need to shower #efc

Lukaku had gone into the clash against Chelsea in good form with four goals in five appearances for club and country.
He will now join up with Belgium, for the international break as his national team prepares for a friendly against the Netherlands on Wednesday evening.
The Toffees will be hoping he will return to the side unscathed as they prepare for a home clash against Swansea.
They will see the match as a way to put their recent poor form behind them, as the Swans sit in 19th place in the table.
In other Everton news, Marouane Fellaini named this Toffees ace in his best XI.
