Everton fans have reacted with excitement on Twitter after Gareth Barry, Leighton Baines and Mason Holgate signed new contracts.

Barry’s previous deal was set to expire in six months’ time, but Ronald Koeman has acted by handing him a 12-month extension while Baines has signed on at Goodison Park until 2019.

Youngster Holgate will remain with the Merseyside giants until 2021, after Everton revealed the news on their official website.

The news comes after a good week on the pitch, following Everton’s last-gasp 2-1 win against Arsenal on Wednesday night.
