Everton fans say star man will be sold in days after Tim Iroegbunam deal agreed
Everton fans are convinced a deal for Amadou Onana to leave the club is now imminent after reaching an agreement to sign Tim Iroegbunam.
Football Insider exclusively revealed on 18 June that Everton have agreed a £10million deal to sign 20-year-old Iroegbunam from Aston Villa.
As a result, many fans have speculated about the source of those funds, suggesting that either Onana or Jarrad Branthwaite must be on their way out.
The club have faced well-documented struggles with profit and sustainability rules and need to sell players before 30 June to get around the threat of another breach.
After being deducted a total of eight points for two financial breaches last season, Everton are desperate to avoid the same fate next time around.
Supporters now believe that, for an incoming deal worth £10million to be on the cards, one of their key players will be on the way out.
Everton fans think Amadou Onana deal is done after Tim Iroegbunam update
Iroegbunam has made 19 appearances for Aston Villa after progressing through their academy, but struggled to break into the team under Unai Emery.
Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on 17 June that Everton are set to receive offers for Onana imminently, with a cheap deal on the cards due to the PSR situation.
Everton fans think a deal has now been made, with one insisting the Iroegbunam deal “has to be the Onana money”.
Some fans even suggested the deal could be an informal swap agreement between Everton and Villa – with the clubs buying each other’s players to avoid PSR issues.
Others think the deal means Branthwaite will be the one to depart in the coming days.
In other news, Man United are plotting a second bid to sign Branthwaite.
