Romelu Lukaku has reportedly turned down a new contract with Everton – and fans on Twitter want Celtic ace Moussa Dembele to replace him.

Sky Sports News reported on their official Twitter account on Tuesday that the highly-rated Premier League forward has rejected a new contract.

The 23-year-old’s current deal at Goodison Park runs until 2019, but this reported news will cast doubt over his future on Merseyside over the summer.

As a result, there are certain sections of the fans at Everton that want Celtic striker Dembele to replace Lukaku if he opts to leave.

The France under-21 international has been a big hit up in Scotland, scoring 32 goals in all competitions during his debut season at the club.

He is working under the stewardship of former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers who has guided the Glasgow giants to an unbeaten run on the Scottish domestic scene this term.

One Toffees supporter stated that Dembele is the obvious target because he has the correct style and profile to replace their current star man.

Furthermore, another fan believes they could land Dembele for a fee of £20million, with the Frenchman joining the Bhoys last summer on a free transfer.

On top of Dembele, names such as Javier Hernandez and current Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford were named as potential purchases.

Lukaku and Tottenham striker Harry Kane are currently the joint top goalscorers in England’s top flight with 19 goals each.

By contrast, Dembele is leading the way in Scotland with 17 goals from his 26 SPL matches, closely followed by his teammate Scott Sinclair who has 15 goals to his name.
