Kenny: Everton fans will be 'buzzing' at reported Davies transfer news
The Goodison Park faithful will be “buzzing” that “mad Everton fan” Tom Davies decided to stay at the club this summer.
So says ex-Premier League goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 23-year-old Toffees academy graduate.
The Athletic reported on 3 September that the midfielder was available for transfer this summer but preferred to stay and fight for his place.
Davies’ only appearance under Rafael Benitez so far came in the League Cup victory over Huddersfield Town on 24 August.
He was named on the bench for the Toffees’ opening two league games but did not make the matchday squad for the recent win over Brighton.
But Kenny insists that the supporters will be delighted that the Liverpool-born player chose to stay at the club.

“I’m sure they’ll be buzzing with that,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.
“He’s born and bred in Everton. He’s a mad Everton fan it’s nice to see that he’s reluctant to leave.
“It can be a tough one because sometimes you look at these situations and think fair play for staying and fighting for your place.
“Or do you think he’d be better off going somewhere else and playing more regular football?
“He must believe in his ability that he can get more game-time. You have to back your ability.”
Davies has two years left on his contract and last signed an extension in 2019.
He has racked up 152 appearances since he made his Everton debut in 2016.
