Everton fans worried by what they’ve heard about Jarrad Branthwaite – Wyness

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed fans have “big concerns” about the potential for Jarrad Branthwaite to leave this summer.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – suggested player sales will be necessary to stave off the threat of future points deductions.

Branthwaite has been the standout performer for Everton in the 2023-24 campaign and is now an ever-present in Sean Dyche’s first-choice starting eleven.

Football Insider revealed in March that Man United rank the 21-year-old as their top centre-back target this summer.

Tottenham, Newcastle and Real Madrid are among the other sides to be linked with a move for the England Under-21 star – who was called up to Gareth Southgate’s senior squad earlier this year.

Branthwaite signed a new contract at Goodison Park in October 2023, with that deal set to run until June 2027.

Everton fans have ‘big’ Branthwaite concerns, says Wyness

He has made 40 total starts this season after a successful loan with Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven in the 2022-23 campaign.

Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “The biggest worry for Everton fans is about another potential points deduction.

Fans are worried about which first-team players are going to be sold to remove any future PSR breaches from the equation.

“There is certainly concern within the fan base about who the two or three players sold may be.

“Jarrad Branthwaite, who has been spectacular this season, would bring about big concern if he were to go.”
