Everton gearing up for big January signing spree – sources

Everton are gearing up for a big January signing spree if the club takeover goes through successfully, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that there is optimism that John Textor will “put his hand in his pocket.”

The expectation is that Textor will provide funds for Sean Dyche to invest in his squad and bring in new signings during the January transfer window.

Sources tell Football Insider that the club hopes to avoid another points deduction, although everything related to the Merseyside club is currently up in the air.

Everton’s hands could end up being tied by FFP and PSR, which could mean that making new signings might not be possible.

The Premier League side suffered a six-point deduction last season after two separate breaches of PSR.

Everton could be financially backed in January

Textor was granted a period of exclusivity to buy Everton owner Farhad Moshiri’s 94.1-per-cent stake at the club.

However, things have stalled since that point and progress has been moving slowly due to complications.

Textor has a 45-per-cent stake in Crystal Palace as well, and the Premier League rules forbid ownership of two teams within the division which is a situation that has yet to be resolved.

Whether Dyche will be the man to benefit from additional finances also remains to be seen as his future is up in the air at the club.

Football Insider revealed that there are whispers within the club that the former Burnley boss could end up being replaced after a disappointing start to the season.
