Everton give 777 final deadline to complete takeover – sources

Everton have given 777 Partners a deadline of the end of April to complete their takeover, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the Merseyside club have another bidder ready to take over should the 777 deal not go through.

The US investment firm agreed to acquire Farhad Moshiri’s stake in the Toffees last September, but the deal has not yet been completed.

O’Rourke told Football Insider that 777 are now running against the clock to complete their takeover at Goodison Park.

Everton will move on to their other bidder if that deadline is not met, with a definitive answer wanted by 30 April.

O’Rourke believes that given the several red flags with 777, it is best for the Toffees to move on and work with their other bidder.

He explained that the constant cloud hanging over the club due to this long, drawn-out process has not helped anybody at Goodison.

Finance expert Kieran Maguire meanwhile told Football Insider on Wednesday (24 April) that 777’s inability to repay their MSP loan is a big worry.

Points deductions have also impacted the Toffees, but even with eight points taken off them for financial breaches, Sean Dyche’s side look to have avoided relegation this season.

The Merseyside club have won their last two matches to push away from the bottom three, and are now eight points clear of Luton Town in 18th place.
