Everton given two reasons ‘Jarrad Branthwaite will reject Tottenham offer’
Jarrad Branthwaite’s Everton future is once again up for discussion as the summer transfer window gets underway.
Man United saw a £50million approach for the England international centre-back, 22, rejected last summer (2024).
According to the Daily Mail (2 June), United have now been joined in the race by Tottenham, Chelsea and Liverpool – but Branthwaite still has two years to run on his contract with an option for a further 12-month extension.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has backed his old side to set a hardline stance on the defender’s future.
‘Everton don’t need to sell’, says Wyness
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted “Everton are not in need of sales” – contrary to their position last summer and in 2023.
The Friedkin Group have completed a much-needed takeover on Merseyside and have secured the club’s financial position – while they are also set to boost revenues with a move into the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Wyness has backed Branthwaite to sign a new deal at Everton rather than pursue a move elsewhere.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I think Branthwaite has also seen a change and an excitement with Moyes coming in.
“The stadium and the project could be really interesting with him as a part of it.
“Everton are not in need of sales, as we were last season or the season before.
“Hopefully, those two things combined can persuade him to stay for a couple of years of a new contract.
“By that time, Everton could be back up competing at the top level.
“I think he’s best served getting the game time under Moyes with basically a new squad and seeing how things go.”

Brighton respond to Everton’s O’Riley interest
Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed (2 June) that Brighton will make it difficult for Everton to seal a deal for midfield star Matt O’Riley this summer.
Moyes is a “big fan” of the Denmark international – who caught the eye of a host of English clubs with his performances at former club Celtic.
However, Brighton will demand to recoup their total investment on the midfielder – including the £25million fee they paid to land him just nine months ago.
