Everton handed relegation boost after ‘absolutely outrageous’ development – pundit
Everton have been handed a major boost in their bid to avoid relegation after Burnley’s “absolutely outrageous” decision to sack Sean Dyche.
That is the view of ex-Man City and Leeds United defender Danny Mills, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the latest twist in the relegation battle.
Burnley confirmed yesterday (15 April) that they had parted company with Dyche, 50, and his coaching staff.
He leaves the Clarets third from bottom, four points behind Everton who hover just above the relegation zone.
And Mills has claimed they will not get a new manager bounce and will drop down to the Championship.
He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “It’s nothing short of an absolute disgrace.
“I’ve spoken to one or two Burnley fans and they can’t believe it, absolutely outrageous.
“It’s very rare that you get a huge bounce. Look at history, teams who change managers with eight games to go very rarely get that bounce.
“You might get one game out of it but it’s very rare that actually happens. Look at the teams down there this season. Leeds have had a bit of a bounce, Everton changed their manager and didn’t get a bounce, Norwich didn’t and Watford didn’t.
“He’s a manager who’s been there, seen it and done it. He knows the players inside out and knows the way they play and they’ve got rid of him and his backroom team.

“You know what, I want Burnley to go down now because they’ve sacked Sean Dyche.
“It’s an appalling decision after what he’s done for the club with the lowest budget in the world. He’s earnt that club almost £1billion in TV money and had £0 to spend. It’s miraculous what he’s done.”
