Everton have ‘thrown down the baton to Tyler Dibling’ after deal agreed
Tyler Dibling will have to fight harder for his place in the Everton team following the arrival of Tyrique George.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, after George joined Everton on loan from Chelsea until the end of the season.
George moves to Merseyside amid Jack Grealish’s injury at Everton which could keep him out for the rest of the campaign.
The 20-year-old made 11 appearances for Chelsea this season, scoring three goals, and is in need of more regular playing time for his development.
Everton make ‘great move’ in January window
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – is “very excited” by George moving to Everton.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness believes the move will put more pressure on Dibling to perform.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Very excited by that one. I think he’s got a lot to give.
“I think he’s hungry to show what he’s got. I mean, he’s had a few appearances for Chelsea, and he did well enough. He scored a cracking goal. I remember that one when he came on. So yeah, I think very excited. I think, you know, given the Grealish injury, I think he could give us that extra bit of threat as well.
“So, yes, very excited. And I think it’s going to throw down the baton to Tyler Dibling to really up his game as well and start really performing. So I think, for many reasons, I think it’s a great move. Very excited, very excited.”

Tyrique George available for Everton debut
George could make his debut for Everton when they travel to Fulham next in the Premier League.
Everton’s 1-1 draw with Brighton last time out extended their unbeaten streak to four league games, and they could move above Fulham in the table with three points.
George has not played a minute of first team football since mid-December, meaning the forward is likely to be an option off the bench at Craven Cottage.
