Everton heading for ‘disaster’ as takeover update emerges – O’Rourke

Everton could be heading for a “disaster” if they don’t resolve their takeover situation before the start of next season, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed the ownership saga is going to impact Sean Dyche’s plans for the summer transfer market due to the uncertainty surrounding the club.

777 Partners agreed to acquire Farhad Moshiri’s 94.1 per cent stake in the club for £500million last September, but the company has so far failed to provide proof of funds to get the deal over the line.

Football Insider revealed earlier this month the takeover will not be completed after the Everton owner has set a make-or-break deadline for the end of May.

O’Rourke admitted Moshiri needs to line up a rescue act in preparation for the US investment firm’s deal falling through due to the “huge” debts surrounding the club.

Everton need quick takeover resolution after 777 Partners issues

777 recently sent a delayed payment of £16million to Everton for the day-to-day operational costs, taking the total the company has loaned the club to more than £200million.

The Miami-based group has been told by the Premier League it must satisfy multiple pre-conditions before the takeover can be approved, but it has made little progress in meeting those demands.

O’Rourke believes the takeover has been a “nightmare” for 777 and everyone associated with the club as he suggested now is the time for Moshiri to pull the plug on the deal.

Football Insider revealed on 18 May that Dyche could sensationally look to leave the Toffees this summer if a quick resolution isn’t found.

The Blues manager helped the club retain their Premier League status despite being deducted eight points for breaching the league’s spending rules.

The issues have also unsettled the Everton players this season after Football Insider revealed on 20 May some of their stars could look to engineer a move if the off-field problems aren’t resolved.
