‘Everton hit Angus Kinnear complication at Leeds United after talks’
Everton have hit a stumbling block in their bid to secure the services of Leeds United chief executive Angus Kinnear, according to The Athletic.
The 47-year-old, who has prior experience with West Ham and Arsenal, has emerged as a key contender to fill the Toffees’ role following The Friedkin Group’s takeover at Everton.
While no decision has yet been finalised on who will take on temporary man Colin Chong’s place amid a new era on Merseyside, complications already seem to have arisen in the chase for Kinnear’s signature.

Leeds United promotion push causes issues for Everton
According to The Athletic [20 February], Kinnear’s potential move away from Leeds could be complicated by Daniel Farke’s side pushing for promotion to the top tier of English football.
The Friedkins are pushing to have a CEO in place as soon as possible, though sources at Elland Road claim that everyone at the club is focusing on the sole ambition of getting out of the Championship.
In addition to this, Leeds’ current chief executive has 18 months remaining on his contract, meaning the Toffees would owe compensation, though that would be unlikely to cause an issue.

David Moyes appointment just the first change in The Friedkin Group’s era
Football Insider verdict
Moyes’ appointment at Everton has already shown that TFG mean business, and the soon-to-come move over to the Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium is just one change on a long list.
Bringing in a new CEO would certainly help move the club on from the dark times under former owner Farhad Moshiri, who left the Toffees in a much worse state than he joined them in.
The Friedkins have already endeared themselves to the fans, and adding yet another experienced face to the behind-the-scenes works, anticipation and excitement will only build from here.
Once the necessary senior figures are in place, transfers need to be next on the agenda. If Dominic Calvert-Lewin is to snub a new contract, Rangers’ star Hamza Igamane should be top of the list.
Jarrad Branthwaite could also be a key player for the next few years so if the new owners can tie him down to a new deal, a revolution looks to be beginning on Merseyside.
