Everton hit by double transfer blow ahead of deadline – sources
Everton will be limited to shopping in the loan market for the remainder of the transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
The Toffees also face losing multiple stars before Friday’s (30 August) transfer deadline in a devastating double blow for Sean Dyche’s side.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin is attracting interest after rejecting multiple contract renewal offers, while Neal Maupay is also a target for Brentford and Marseille.
Mason Holgate is also being lined up for a potential late move away from Merseyside.
The Toffees have already signed Jasper Lindstrom and Jack Harrison on loan this summer and will need to negotiate more temporary deals if they are to add to their squad.
Everton limited to loans and could lose multiple stars before Friday
Newcastle’s Kieran Trippier has been widely linked with a potential move to Goodison Park after slipping down the pecking order on Tyneside.
Everton have spent money in the window, bringing Jake O’Brien, Iliman Ndiaye and Tim Iroegbunam to the club on permanent deals.
But amid takeover uncertainty, the cash has dried up and Dyche now faces using loans to supplement his squad and stave off the threat of relegation.

The Toffees have started the 2024-25 campaign with back-to-back heavy defeats against Brighton (3-0) and Tottenham (4-0).
Dyche’s side sit bottom of the Premier League ahead of their clash with Bournemouth on Saturday (31 August).
