‘Everton in box seat to beat Leeds to Manor Solomon deal with Tottenham’

Everton are now in the prime position to beat Leeds to the signing of Manor Solomon from Tottenham this summer if they move ahead with a deal.

The former Fulham man has enjoyed a fruitful season in the second tier, becoming champions of the Championship with Leeds.

The Israeli winger’s 10 goals and 12 assists helped spur Daniel Farke’s side to the top spot, beating out Burnley on goal difference after both teams registered 100 points.

Leeds are desperate to keep Solomon on a permanent deal this summer, Mick Brown revealed to Football Insider exclusively.

But in a new update from The Athletic, that may be easier said than done, with Everton receiving a major boost in any potential pursuit of the winger.

Angus Kinnear gives Everton boost in Manor Solomon deal

The Athletic’s Leeds writer, Beren Cross, revealed that now-former Whites CEO Angus Kinnear’s relationship with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy was “key” to bringing Solomon to Elland Road last summer on loan.

The issue for the Whites if they hope to strike a deal with Spurs for the 25-year-old, is that they will have to do so without their CEO.

Kinnear has since joined Everton, giving the Toffees a boost to their standing should they choose to pursue a deal for the Israeli.

Ex-Whites keeper Paul Robinson told Football Insider that Leeds will need to head off hijack interest from Everton if they are to do a deal for Solomon.

Everton in need of boost in wide areas following Jack Harrison, Jesper Lindstrom departures

If Everton decides to make their interest in Solomon concrete, Kinnear will offer them the ability to make negotiating a deal with Tottenham smooth sailing.

The Toffees are set to undergo a huge re-haul of their squad, eight first-teamers are out of contract, whilst a further four are set to depart following the culmination of their loan deals.

These include Jesper Lindstrom and Jack Harrison. Whilst neither winger had a positive impact last year, they will need replacing, and Solomon could prove to be an affordable and versatile option.

The former Fulham man’s best performances have come during his time in the Championship, but given his age and the benefit of playing regularly, it is easy to see him doing well under David Moyes at the Hill Dickinson stadium.
