Everton are interested in signing Dynamo Kiev defender Domagoj Vida, according to a report.
The Daily Mirror claim that the Toffees are in the hunt for the 27-year-old, who has 46 caps for his country Croatia.
It is understood that they are joined by Premier League rivals West Ham, Stoke and Sunderland in the race for his signature.
The report details that Sunderland have been tracking the centre-back for over a year, but are set to miss out on the Croatia international due to their position at the bottom of the Premier League.
Vida is a versatile defender that is a centre-back by trade, but can fill in at either full-back positions if needed.
He has been with Ukrainian club Kyiv since 2013 and has racked up 131 appearances, winning two league title in the process.
Everton are reportedly eyeing a move for Premier League centre-backs Harry Maguire and Michael Keane this summer, with manager Ronald Koeman keen to bolster his defensive options.
Football Insider verdict:
Everton certainly need to improve their defensive options in the summer and Vida is a player with a great level of experience. The Croatian is a regular for his country and has been playing in Europe with Kyiv. His versatility means that he could be a vital asset to the squad and should be a player that Koeman consider putting a bid in for. However, Vida is yet to experience the style of the Premier League and there is no guarantee he would make a smooth transition. Everton want to be competing with the top six in the Premier League every season and might be better served chasing someone who has experience of England’s top flight.
