Everton in talks over Premier League duo, including £24m-rated midfielder – report
By Dominic Toner
Everton are in talks to sign Manchester United duo Morgan Schneiderlin and Memphis Depay in January, according to a report.
The Mail claim that the Toffees are discussing a £24million deal for United midfielder Schneiderlin and that Everton manager Ronald Koeman is keen on the move, having previously worked with him at Southampton.
The report details that Koeman is also eyeing a loan deal for attacking midfielder Depay and that United manager Jose Mourinho is prepared to let the pair leave Old Trafford in January.
United seem prepared to allow Schneiderlin leave on a permanent basis, but believe that Depay could still be a long-term solution and would benefit from regular football in the Premier League.
Everton are keen to bolster their squad as they hunt a European spot this season and will be confident after their 2-1 home victory over Arsenal on Tuesday night.

Schneiderlin could be a great addition to the Everton squad and would provide competition for Idrissa Gueye, Gareth Barry and James McCarthy.
The 27-year-old has made just three substitute appearances in the Premier League this season and will be looking for regular first team football, something that the Merseyside club would be able to offer.
He enjoyed a fantastic spell with Southampton and the Frenchman has experience of the Premier League.
Depay, 22, usually operates on the left wing and has also not started a game in the Premier League this season.
The attacker has fallen down the pecking order at United and is yet to justify his £25millio move from PSV in 2015.
Everton could be in the market for a wide man in January after Yannick Bolasie was ruled out for the rest of the season with a severe knee injury.
Football Insider verdict:
Everton should prioritise the signings of Morgan Schneiderlin and Memphis Depay in January as they would help their European aspirations. The Toffees squad currently looks a bit thin and the United duo would certainly add some extra quality. Everton midfielder Gareth Barry can not play every game at the age of 35 and Schneiderlin could be a great partner alongside Idrissa Gueye. The French international was once regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League and could rediscover that form at Goodison Park. Ronald Koeman needs to add some extra firepower in January and should take a slight risk on Depay. The Dutchman scored 50 goals in 124 appearances for PSV and could thrive on the pressure at Goodison Park. The two players are on the fringes of the United squad and a move could suit both parties.
