Dominic Calvert-Lewin could be next Everton star to go – Keith Wyness
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has suggested the club could avoid losing Jarrad Branthwaite by selling Amadou Onana and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed prospective new owner Dan Friedkin will “protect the assets which need to be protected”.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (17 June) that Man United are planning to submit a new offer for Branthwaite this week.
An initial bid of around £35million plus add-ons was rejected by Everton, who are holding out for a valuation of around £80million.
Branthwaite signed a new contract at Goodison Park in October 2023, keeping him at the club until June 2027.
Dan Friedkin will ‘protect’ Branthwaite, says Wyness
Meanwhile, Wyness told Football Insider on Wednesday (19 June) that Amadou Onana could be sold this summer, with Arsenal “in negotiations” to sign the midfielder.
He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “Onana is one I think will go.
“But we’d all like to keep Branthwaite, the club included. The way Man United and Sir Jim Ratcliffe have handled those negotiations has been very poor.
“I think United’s situation, going in so low, is a ridiculous way to handle the situation when you’re going after such a quality player.
“As for Everton, we’ve got to make sure everything we do is focused on the core players and the age of the squad.
“Dan Friedkin will protect the assets which need to be protected.

“From what I’ve been told, Everton would rather not sell Branthwaite, they’d rather sell Onana and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
“It’s going to come down to whether the club can offload those players first.”
