Jordan Pickford and Tony Bellew react to major announcement at Everton

Jordan Pickford and former professional boxer Tony Bellew have both reacted to a major Everton announcement ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash with Southampton.

The Toffees are set to bid an emotional farewell to Goodison Park on Sunday, 18 May, ahead of next season’s move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Bramley-Moore Dock.

Everton have confirmed that Goodison Park will now host their women’s side’s home games form next season, but Sunday will mark the iconic ground’s last Premier League encounter.

The Merseyside outfit have successfully lifted themselves away from relegation danger under David Moyes, and can look ahead to enjoying more success in the top flight next term.

Pickford and Bellew react as Everton announce Ashley Young departure

Everton announced via Instagram on 17 May that Ashley Young, Asmir Begovic, and Joao Virginia will leave the North West club when their contracts expire at the end of the season.

The post attracted a like from Toffees and England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, while Blues fan Bellew commented with clapping hands emojis either side of a blue heart emoji to show his appreciation for the outgoing trio.

Young’s departure is a particularly prominent one for the Merseyside outfit, as he has made 68 appearances since joining from Aston Villa in 2023.

Everton weigh up whether to sign John Stones

Everton’s move from Goodison Park to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, coupled with the exit of veterans Young and Begovic, is indicative that a new era is around the corner for the blue half of Merseyside.

But as Moyes and the Blues wave goodbye to their iconic ground, as well as former England international Young, the Toffees are also set to welcome fresh talent during the summer transfer window.

Moyes will be particularly keen to bolster his defence, while Michael Keane is set to depart the North West outfit this summer after joining from Burnley back in 2017.

Keane has made over 230 Everton appearances since signing from the Clarets, but the Toffees faithful would now largely agree that his career in Merseyside has run its course amid a lack of game time in recent months.

But while the 32-year-old is set for the exit door, Moyes is set to have the final say on whether his side re-acquire the services of Manchester City’s John Stones.
