Everton may have ‘next Mason Mount and Reece James on their books’ after confirmed news – pundit
Everton manager Frank Lampard can take Nathan Patterson and Anthony Gordon’s game to the next level, according to Paul Robinson.
The former Tottenham and England goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, drew parallels to Lampard’s development of Reece James and Mason Mount while managing Chelsea.
Lampard had a huge influence on the careers of James, 22, and Mount, 23, both of whom are now pivotal players at Stamford Bridge.
On 31 January, the Toffees announced the appointment of Lampard on a two-and-a-half year deal.
The Premier League legend has previously managed Chelsea and Derby County.
Robinson tipped his former England teammate to get the best out of youngsters such as Patterson, 20, and Gordon, 20, at Goodison Park.
“If there is one thing Frank was praised for at Chelsea and Derby it was developing youngsters,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs. “He was hugely credited for that.
“He has great development skills and will nurture the talent.
“Patterson and Gordon are two players who stand out. You only have to look at what Frank did with Reece James and Mason Mount. I expect both players to come on leaps and bounds under his stewardship. They can be the next James and Mount.
“Frank received a fair bit of criticism for the job he did at Chelsea but I think it was underestimated. He had his hands tied behind his back. I think he did extremely well.”

On 4 January, Everton signed Patterson from Rangers but the right-back is yet to make his debut.
On the other hand, Gordon is a product of the Blues academy and has made 39 appearances for the club.
