Everton would be making a big mistake if they sell Gerard Deulofeu in January – he is one of the few players who can produce that moment of magic for the Blues.
The 22-year-old has started just four Premier League fixtures for Ronald Koeman this season and he has been tipped with a move away in January.
However, Everton should keep hold of him because he has the creativity and skill level to turn games around in a moment and Koeman doesn’t have many players who are capable of doing that.
Deulofeu is a tricky, agile forward and the Spaniard has the ability to create chances out of nothing when given space to run at defenders.
He has shown in the past he is able to produce key passes and play some threatening balls into the box and his performance against Leicester reminded fans of his potential after he had a brilliant pre-season for the Blues.
It was a disappointing game all round for Everton and while Deulofeu failed to get on the score-sheet, he came on as a half-time substitute and set-up Romelu Lukaku’s goal.
He didn’t produce anything out of the ordinary to set-up Lukaku’s headed effort but Deulofeu made an impact on his side almost immediately after coming on.
As well as the assist, he stretched defenders when in possession of the ball and he is capable of terrorising defences when he is on top form.
Until Koeman adds a player with similar levels of creativity to the squad, he just cannot afford to let Deulofeu go.
In other Everton news, the club should sign this Arsenal attacker.
