‘Everton new arrivals are worrying – I’m not satisfied at all’
Everton’s 2024-25 campaign may not be over yet but the club are undertaking a radical overhaul within the club’s backroom staff.
Angus Kinnear has already been appointed as the club’s new permanent CEO, while Kevin Thelwell has departed as sporting director and Dan Purdy has left despite being offered a position as head of player identification.
Nick Hammond will arrive from Leeds to take a role as head of trading – with Everton not set to move forward with a traditional head of recruitment.
The Toffees have a number of hires to make in key areas with The Friedkin Group getting their feet under the table at the club after their takeover last year (2024).
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has insisted he is “not satisfied at all” with the speed of movement at his old side.

‘Everton need people in place right now’, says Wyness
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted Everton are in a “very unsatisfactory situation” with new hires not taking place quick enough.
The Toffees have four games remaining of this season ahead of their move into the Bramley Moore Dock stadium for the 2025-26 campaign.
Wyness insisted Everton need “people in place right now”.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I’ve got to say that this is an area that is worrying me at the moment.
“The speed of these hires coming in is a concern.
“It’s a very unsatisfactory situation. I’m a bit disappointed they haven’t moved quicker to put the recruitment and academy renewal team in place.
“If they’re not going to have a sporting director, fair enough. But whatever system we have – let’s get people in place right now.
“Things are happening quickly and it’s already late.
“I’m not satisfied at all with the movement.”

Like Keane, the 35-year-old’s current deal is set to expire in June – but sources say the Toffees are expected to extend the midfielder’s stay at the club.
