Everton news: Duncan Ferguson could quit for manager’s job amid Frank Lampard reveal – pundit
Duncan Ferguson could leave Everton if offered a managerial opportunity.
That is the view of former Sunderland and England striker Kevin Phillips, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 50-year-old’s future at Goodison Park.
According to The Telegraph (27 January), Ferguson was for the Everton manager’s job along with Frank Lampard and Vitor Pereira.

However, Ferguson was beaten to the post by Frank Lampard, who was appointed on a two-and-a-half year deal.
The Toffees legend has instead returned to his position as first-team coach.
As quoted by the Liverpool Echo (3 February), Lampard revealed he’s “delighted” to have Ferguson as part of his backroom staff.
Phillips, who is now manager of South Shields after spells at Leicester, Stoke and Derby as an assistant, suspects Ferguson would leave Everton if he was offered a manager’s job elsewhere.
“He might well fancy a job in management now,” he told Football Insider. “I imagine he would because he has had a taste of it.
“He might be very happy at Everton though. It’s a club he’s been at for years and he might be comfortable there even though he’s not got the manager’s job.
“I think it’s a very clever move from Frank, keeping Duncan Ferguson there because he is the link between the manager and players. Frank will not know any of those players going in.

“It is important to have people at the club who can give you their opinion. Dunc has done it with loads of managers. He’s a great guy and he loves the club.
“It’s sensible to keep him at the club but I’d understand if he wants to leave and try his hand at management soon.”
