Everton news: Expert issues 'big' Jordan Pickford claim as 'magnificent' details emerge
Jordan Pickford will be “vital” for Everton in their run-in after his “magnificent” display against Man United on Saturday (9 April), according to Noel Whelan.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 28-year-old’s performance was vindication for Gareth Southgate after his show of faith in the shot-stopper.
Pickford impressed as Everton recorded a crucial 1-0 win over Man United to move four points clear of the drop zone.
As per SofaScore, the former Sunderland ace recorded four saves, two punches, one high claim, and two clearances.
Pickford has conceded 54 goals in 30 games across all competitions this term.
Whelan hailed the 43-cap shot-stopper after “mistakes” in recent weeks.

“Big players turn up for big games,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“There was no bigger game than Saturday for Jordan and the whole Everton team.
“This is why he’s England’s number one. These are the sorts of performances he can produce.
“We’ve seen mistakes from him for Everton, but none for England. That was an England performance he put on against Man United.
“He produced two or three magnificent saves – and that’s what he’s there for. Everton and Lampard will be wanting more of the same from him for the rest of the season because he’s going to be vital to clawing their way out of it.”
Everton face Leicester next Wednesday (20 April) before tricky consecutive fixtures against Chelsea and Liverpool.
As per FBRef, Pickford has the fourth-lowest save percentage (64.7%) of any keeper in the Premier League.
