Everton news: Jarrad Branthwaite and Amadou Onana could both now join overseas clubs – Wyness
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has insisted Everton should sell both Jarrad Branthwaite and Amadou Onana overseas this summer.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – suggested Branthwaite, in particular, could attract interest from La Liga giants this summer.
Wyness has already told Football Insider (5 April) that he “expects” the club to sell big assets like Branthwaite, Onana and Jordan Pickford this summer.
Everton published their 2022-23 accounts on Sunday (31 March) which revealed a statutory loss of £89.1million – and they are expected to need to sell players this summer to alleviate their financial woes.
Football Insider revealed last week (5 April) that Man United could face competition from Real Madrid and Newcastle United for Everton star Branthwaite this summer.
Former Everton CEO Wyness can’t believe ‘horrible’ transfer development
But Wyness has insisted it would be “horrible” to see the centre-back or Onana “come back to haunt” Everton in the Premier League.
He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I’d definitely prefer to sell both Branthwaite and Onana overseas.
“It’s always horrible to see a player come back and haunt you, particularly if they’ve been a great performer for the club.
“That’s particularly the case with Branthwaite, he’s come through the ranks in many ways.

“Onana, I believe, will go overseas – and we could well see Branthwaite do the same.
“I can see him ending up in Spain.”
