Everton news: Keith Wyness stunned by ‘huge’ behind-the-scenes payout
Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness revealed he was “surprised” at the size of payouts given to staff and directors that have left Goodison Park over the past year.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – criticised Farhad Moshiri’s ownership of the club after seeing their latest financial figures.
Everton published their full 2022-23 accounts on Sunday (31 March) revealing an overall revenue of £172.2million and a total loss of £89million.
Within their accounts, the Merseyside club also revealed that Frank Lampard and his coaching staff were paid over £7million in compensation after their sacking and £3.1million was paid out to three directors who left.
Everton payout to Lampard and directors is shocking – Wyness
Wyness previously told Football Insider that Everton face a devastating third breach of financial regulations after a loss of £89million.
Wyness told Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast: “I saw £7.1million going to Frank Lampard and his team for moving on.
“I thought it was interesting that there was £3.1million paid out to three directors leaving the club.
“I was surprised it was that significant particularly when you put it into context that Everton since Moshiri has taken over has lost more money than any other Premiership club.

“If you are the executives during that period of time you would have thought that they haven’t done a great job.
“So it does make me scratch my head as to why they have been given a huge payoff.“
