Everton open talks over James Garner deal – sources
Everton have opened talks with midfield star James Garner over a new contract, sources have told Football Insider.
The 23-year-old’s current deal is set to expire in 2026 and the Merseysiders are keen to tie him down with a new agreement.
Everton chiefs and manager Sean Dyche value Garner as a key player and are particular fans of his versatility in the Toffees midfield.
He joined the Goodison Park club from Man United two years ago in a deal worth a reported £15million.
Garner made 44 appearances across all competitions in the 2023-24 campaign, starting in 41 of those outings.
The 23-year-old notched two goals and two assists in those outings and primarily played in defensive midfield, central midfield and on the right flank.

He earned the move to Merseyside after an impressive loan spell with Nottingham Forest in the Championship.
Everton have opened talks with the midfielder despite ongoing financial concerns at the club.
The Merseysiders announced on Saturday (1 June) that 777 Partners’ takeover deal with Farhad Moshiri has expired with the club now ready to explore other options for new ownership.

Dyche’s side finished 15th in the Premier League in the 2023-24 campaign despite being deducted eight points for financial breaches.
The Toffees won 13 of their 38 top-flight games with Garner part of a formidable midfield alongside the likes of Idrissa Gueye and Abdoulaye Doucoure.
