Everton owners in ‘advanced talks’ to sign star choosing between Goodison & Roma

Everton owners The Friedkin Group are in “advanced talks” to sign Devyne Rensch during the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that they are currently planning to buy the right-back for their other club, Roma.

The Friedkin Group also owns the Serie A side, and the 21-year-old is set to be sent there despite interest from Everton.

The Merseyside giants have been monitoring Rensch themselves, but Roma are in advanced negotiations with the player.

Ajax are open to selling him in January as Rensch is coming into the final six months of his contract, with this being their final opportunity to cash in.

The Netherlands international has remained a regular in the Ajax starting lineup this season, having played 25 times across all competitions.

Everton want to strengthen in this area of the pitch

Well-placed sources have told Football Insider that Everton are in the market for a new right-back, but everything is going to be in-house in terms of who really needs the player.

There are offers on the table from both Friedkin Group-owned clubs, and Resch has a decision himself to make on where he would like to play moving forward.

Everton could find themselves in a relegation battle this season, therefore a move to a more stable Serie A side could be more appealing for the right-back.

Everton manager David Moyes

Everton currently sits 16th in the Premier League table after 20 games, with just a single point keeping them above the relegation zone.

They will be back in action on Sunday (19 January) against Tottenham, which will see David Moyes return to the home dugout at Goodison Park for the first time since returning to the club.
