‘Everton plan to accept £25m Beto offer as replacement lined up’

Everton are open to offers for Beto this summer amid growing interest from clubs in Europe as well as links with a move to Leeds United.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that David Moyes is planning for life without the 27-year-old.

The Toffees are aiming to get back the £25million spent to bring him to Merseyside in 2023, while work is ongoing to sign a second striker after Thierno Barry.

This comes after Football Insider revealed on 5 July that Everton are interested in Millwall star Mihailo Ivanovic and could land him alongside their deal for Barry.

Ivanovic is just one of a number of the strikers of Moyes’ radar as he plans to replace Beto alongside the already-departed Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Brown told Football Insider in May that Everton are lining up replacements for Calvert-Lewin and have already begun working on deals behind the scenes.

Everton plan to sign new striker after Beto decision

Brown told Football Insider on 8 July that Everton are prepared to let Beto go amid interest from Leeds in the wake of their deal to sign Barry.

Now, the former scout who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, explained that the Toffees are making plans for a future without the striker.

Everton want to sign a new striker,” he told Football Insider.

“We’ve spoken about it before, but I don’t think Moyesy is entirely happy with Beto, and if they get an offer for him they’re ready to let him go.

“Whether it’s somebody like Leeds or a club in Europe, if they can get back the money they spent on him they will see it as a good deal.

“Then, they’re going to bring in a replacement for him.

“They’ve already got one deal done, because they wanted to replace Calvert-Lewin, and there are others they’ve been looking at to replace Beto.

“Again, it depends on the interest and if clubs are willing to pay, but Everton are open to it.”

Man United join Toffees in race to sign Douglas Luiz

Alongside their ambitions of signing a new striker, Everton are also planning to strengthen in midfield amid interest in Juventus star Douglas Luiz.

Football Insider exclusively revealed on 15 July that Man United have registered their interest in Luiz and are prepared to rival Everton for his signature.

However, Moyes’ side would prefer to sign the Brazil international on loan rather than committing to a permanent deal given the finances involved.

This comes after Brown told Football Insider in March that Nottingham Forest are keen to sign Luiz after keeping tabs on his progress, with his agent offering him to multiple clubs.
