Everton ‘plan to accept new Dwight McNeil offer’ after Crystal Palace move collapsed
Everton will be open to new offers for Dwight McNeil during the summer transfer window after his deadline day move to Crystal Palace fell through.
The Eagles pulled the plug at the 11th hour, despite having agreed terms with all parties involved and with the player having undergone a medical.
McNeil shared an emotional social media post following the breakdown of his £20million move, with him and his partner having been set on a move to London.
However, former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that McNeil will now be looking at a move elsewhere with Everton prepared to move him on.
The arrival of Tyrique George from Chelsea meant David Moyes gave the green light for another winger to leave, and the same is expected to be the case in the summer.

Everton still plan to agree Dwight McNeil exit
Football Insider first revealed early on deadline day that Crystal Palace were interested in McNeil, but it wasn’t until much closer to the deadline that a deal was agreed.
Palace submitted a deal sheet to apply for extra time in their race to agree the deal, but then pulled out, leaving the winger in limbo despite terms being finalised.
“I was surprised to see that deal hadn’t gone through,” Brown told Football Insider.
“It looked like he was on his way to Palace, the deal was agreed with Everton and he’d done a medical, but they pulled out of it for whatever reason.
“These things happen in football and I expect Palace will have their reasons for their decision.
“McNeil now will have to be looking for other opportunities, because Everton were obviously prepared to let him go because he’s not part of the plans.

“If that’s the case now, it’ll be the case in the summer and I expect they’ll be looking to move him on.
“Whether Palace come back in for him, I highly doubt it because as I say they had their reasons for pulling out, but there will be other clubs interested.”
Jean-Philippe Mateta exit falls through
McNeil’s move to Selhurst Park wasn’t the only deal Crystal Palace saw collapse on transfer deadline day, after Jean-Philippe Mateta failed medical checks at AC Milan.
Mateta was widely expected to leave Palace after informing the club of his desire to move on, but is now stuck at Selhurst Park after failing to agree a deal.
Brown told Football Insider on 29 January that Mateta was set to leave Palace has he “doesn’t want to be there”, leading to potential issues after that deal fell through.

However, a return to Glasner’s starting XI has not been ruled out despite suggestions he could undergo surgery on his knee injury which scuppered his exit.
After returning to Palace, who moved quickly to replace him with the addition of Jorgen Strand Larsen, he should now be allowed to finally undergo surgery.
