Key player went missing: Everton player ratings against Liverpool
By Amir Mir
Football Insider rates the Everton players out of ten following their 3-1 defeat against Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
Joel Robles 6 – Made some decent saves and in truth he couldn’t do much about the goals that were scored by the home team.
Matthew Pennington 5 – Mixed day for the Everton academy product who scored his first goal for the club. However, defensively he was outclassed by Philippe Coutinho.
Phil Jagielka 4 – Poor match from the experienced player who should have tried to control and lead his younger teammates.
Ashley Williams 4 – He should have been sent off in the first half for his stamp on Emre Can. Just like Jagielka, he had a poor game.

Mason Holgate 6 – One of the more better players for Everton despite the poor defensive display. He didn’t lack any confidence.
Tom Davies 5 – The club’s academy product was substituted after the hour mark, he looked good going forward, but should have done more defensively.
Idrissa Gueye 5 – Typical hard-working display from the Senegal international who needed extra legs beside him in the middle of the park.
Leighton Baines 5 – The left wing-back put in the hard work but the quality in attack was not there.
Ross Barkley 5 – Mixed display from Barkley who produced moments of magic but was eratic for most of the game. Another player who should have seen red.
Romelu Lukaku 3 – Despite being a key player, he went missing during the match and couldn’t produce the form that have won him plaudits this season.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin 5 – Tough day for the youngster who was unable to cause any threat in the final third.
In other Everton news, the Times report that Romelu Lukaku’s boot deal holds the key to his future.
