Everton plot bid for prolific £8m-rated midfielder, keen on move to Premier League - report
By Danny Wright
Everton are planning to stage a bid for Celtic midfielder Stuart Armstrong, according to a report.
The Express claims that West Brom and Brighton are also keeping tabs on the 25-year-old and that the Baggies sent a scout to keep an eye on him when he scored during the 3-1 win at Aberdeen on Friday.
It is understood that Tony Pulis will be happy to pay £8million for Armstrong and spend £30,000-per-week on wages.
The one-time Scotland international will enter the final year of his contract next season and Brendan Rodgers is understood to want talks with his player before the Scottish Cup final takes place later this month.
According to the Express, Rodgers wants Armstrong to put pen to paper for a new four-year deal at Parkhead.

However it is understood that the prolific midfielder, who has 14 goals to his name in 30 Premiership games this term, is eager for a move to England.
Celtic signed Armstrong from Dundee United in February 2015 and he has since made 101 appearances in all competitions for the Scottish champions, scoring 37 goals.
He has been a key part of the Hoops’ amazing season which has seen them remain unbeaten in domestic football and they are now just one win away from securing the treble later this month.
Football Insider Verdict
Armstrong is a very good player and could easily slot into a mid-table Premier League team. However it is unlikely that he could make a big impact at Everton, who are already looking at some good midfielders this summer to replace contract-rebel Ross Barkley. The Scot could easily be a star for newly-promoted Brighton while West Brom are dying for a player who can provide a link between midfield and attack. Armstrong is a great box-to-box midfielder who isn’t shy in front of goal and also does a good job when his side are not in possession – he just isn’t Everton quality as they ambitiously target a top-four finish next season.
In other Everton news, a BBC pundit has said it is possible that this 23-year-old will move to Tottenham in the summer.
