Everton points deduction: Wyness can’t believe new ‘tragedy’ – ‘20,000 fans outside courts’
Former Everton chief Keith Wyness has claimed there could be “20,000 fans outside the courts” waiting for a verdict on potential relegation after the Premier League season ends.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed that scenario would be “a tragedy for football”.
Everton and Nottingham Forest are in relegation trouble this term and are both waiting to hear a verdict on a breach of the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Regulations (PSR).
Both clubs could receive a point deduction if found guilty of their respective breaches.

The Toffees have already received a six-point penalty (reduced from 10 after appeal) for another breach of PSR.
Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “The worst case scenario is that we get to the last game of the season, and we don’t know who is up or down.
“That would be a tragedy for football.
“The fans themselves would be shaking their heads, and we could even see 20,000 fans standing waiting outside the courts for a decision on whether they’ve been relegated.
“Richard Masters and Alison Brittain have got themselves into this mess, and they are the ones who have to be held accountable for it.
“They’ve got to try and learn from it, but I don’t have faith in them.”
