‘Everton ready to agree three first-team deals within weeks’
Everton are preparing for their first summer window of The Friedkin Group era at the club – but must first make decisions on their out-of-contract stars.
Ashley Young, Asmir Begovic, Seamus Coleman, Michael Keane, Idrissa Gueye, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Dominic Calvert-Lewin are all set to leave as free agents next month – as things stand.
Meanwhile – Carlos Alcaraz, Jesper Lindstrom, Armando Broja, Orel Mangala and Jack Harrison are all set to return to their parent clubs at the end of their loans.
Everton‘s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has revealed he expects three out-of-contract stars to be given new deals.

Three stars tipped to sign new Everton deals
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted David Moyes will have made decisions on his squad – but may be waiting for the new-look recruitment team to be put in place.
The Toffees are currently light in several key recruitment areas – with director of football Kevin Thelwell already confirmed to be leaving the club for Rangers.
Wyness insisted the new transfer team will have to evaluate potential improvements on the current squad before deciding who to release.
Player | Position |
Joao Virginia | Goalkeeper |
Ashley Young | Full-back |
Seamus Coleman | Full-back |
Michael Keane | Centre-back |
Idrissa Gueye | Defensive midfielder |
Abdoulaye Doucoure | Central midfielder |
Dominic Calvert-Lewin | Striker |
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I think about three of those players will end up signing new contracts.
“The recruitment team at Everton isn’t yet fully in place. The problem is when you’re looking at players already under contract, you’ve got to do a comparison with what’s on the marketplace.
“There are lots of factors going into that. I’m not sure if Moyes has been dealing with a full set of information.
“He will know these players. He’s had the time to work with them in training and he knows their personalities.
“Moyes is a big stickler for those things. He will have made his own decisions, but he’s got to weigh that up against what is available on the market.
“That’s where there may have been a delay.
“It’s difficult to say which players will sign. I think there will be three, from what I understand, who sign new deals.”

Everton open talks over Gueye deal
Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed (28 April) that Everton are in talks with midfielder Idrissa Gueye over a new contract.
The 35-year-old’s current deal is set to expire in June – but sources say the Toffees are expected to extend the midfielder’s stay at the club.
Gueye has been ever-present since Moyes‘ return to Everton earlier this year.
