Everton set to bank £8m+ windfall as US deal reported – Keith Wyness

Everton are on the path to getting their finances back on track after years of uncertainty under previous owner Farhad Moshiri.

The Merseysiders were deducted points twice last term for financial rule breaches but have kept their nose clean this term and look set to maintain their Premier League status under David Moyes.

Moyes was appointed just weeks after confirmation of The Friedkin Group’s takeover, with US billionaire Dan Friedkin becoming the new custodian of Everton.

Another boost to the club’s finances will come when they move into the new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium later this year – which is set to bring Everton more than £60million in extra annual revenue.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has had his say on another new multi-million-pound windfall at the club.

Everton will move into their new state-of-the-art stadium in time for the start of the 2025-26 campaign.

Friedkin close to agreeing first US deal at Everton

The Athletic have reported (18 February) that Everton, West Ham, Man United and Bournemouth are in advanced talks to participate in the Premier League’s Summer Series event in the US in July.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness claimed participation could bank the Toffees up to $10million (around £8million).

Games are set to take place in Atlanta, New Jersey and Chicago after last year’s competition was cancelled.

Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “The whole thing was cancelled last year for different reasons.

“I think Everton will be looking at around $8-10million as a basic attendance fee, which is pretty good for the clubs.

“Everton and West Ham may get slightly more than a club like Bournemouth, purely because of the reach of the fanbase.

“They may change that to make it more equal.

“For these clubs, it’s also about making themselves more present in the States and serving the fans they have over there.

“They’ll be making public appearances and getting together with the fans wherever they possibly can.

“It’s about servicing the increase in football interest in the US and trying to consolidate it moving forwards.”

Friedkin backed to bankroll £200m of Everton signings

Meanwhile, Everton will also be putting plans in place for the upcoming summer transfer window as they prepare to move into a new home.

Wyness has previously told Football Insider that Everton could spend £50million on four players this summer- £200million in total – thanks to increased revenue from the stadium.

David Moyes’ side made just one January addition, bringing Carlos Alcaraz to the club on loan from Brazilian giants Flamengo – but Alcaraz has already become something of a fan favourite.
