Everton news: Medical expert names Donny van de Beek return date as injury details revealed

Donny van de Beek will return to action for Everton well in time for the meeting with Leicester City on 20 April.

That is the view of injury expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine and data analysis.

Van de Beek, 24, was injured in the warm-up ahead of the Toffees’ 2-1 defeat to West Ham at the London Stadium last Sunday (3 April).

In his media conference ahead of tomorrow’s game against Burnley, Frank Lampard revealed the midfielder has suffered a “small grade” thigh injury.

The Dutchman, who signed on loan from Man United in January, has been ruled out for the crucial relegation six-pointer at Turf Moor.

He will be ineligible to face his parent club on Saturday (9 April), observes Dinnery, but will be ready for the Merseysiders’ following game.

“It could have just presented itself as a little bit of tightness,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.

“In that case, you pull him out of the firing line, make sure he’s okay and get it scanned.

“You don’t want to exacerbate the problem that might just be a week or so.

“You’re always guided by the player. With a lot of decisions, particularly the player is warming up, you’re guided by what the player tells you.

“You don’t have much choice because you can’t do much in the way of assessments and certainly not in terms of imaging.

“He’ll miss the United game because he’s ineligible, then he’ll be back against Leicester.”

Van de Beek has featured six times since his mid-season move to Goodison.

Everton are just two points outside the relegation zone going into the clash with Burnley.
