Done deal: Defender agrees terms with Everton

By Alex Taylor

Everton starlet JonJoe Kenny has signed a new three-year deal with the club, it was announced on Thursday afternoon.

The Merseysiders announced on their official Twitter account that Kenny, 19, has put pun to paper on a new deal that will keep him at the club until 2019.

The Toffees right-back joined Everton at the age of nine before progressing through the youth set-up to captain the Under-21s.

The full-back made his first team debut as a substitute against Norwich City in May under caretaker manager David Unsworth.

Kenny has enjoyed spells on loan with Wigan Athletic and Oxford United and helped guide the League One outfit to promotion.

“This contract means the world to me,” Kenny told the Everton website. “I love this club and it’s where I want to be, so hopefully I can kick on.

“Playing for the first-team at the end of last season was a dream come true and I want more of that.”

The youngster has made 70 appearances for Everton at age-group level, scoring six goals and providing seven assists.

Kenny has shown his composure too, having received just seven yellow cards and no red cards during his time in the youth ranks.

He will now be hoping for more game time this term as Everton look to fight for a place in Europe next season.
