Everton stars are unsettled and ready to engineer moves – O’Rourke
Everton players could look to engineer a transfer this summer due to the off-field issues currently surrounding the club.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke suggested the players are likely to be frustrated by how matters are being handled behind the scenes at Goodison Park.
The Toffees have been hit with two separate points deductions this season for breaching the Premier League’s spending rules, resulting in them being docked eight points overall.
The takeover saga involving 777 Partners is also dragging on, with the US investment firm so far unable to get the deal over the line despite having an agreement in place with Farhad Moshiri since last September.
Football Insider revealed on 10 May the takeover will not be completed, creating yet more doubts over the club’s future moving forward.
O’Rourke revealed those issues are likely to have unsettled the players and will be making some of them consider whether it’s the right time to move on for more stability elsewhere.
Everton could face battle to keep star players
Everton have secured their place in the Premier League for another season following an upturn in form over the past few weeks.
O’Rourke believes it’s a testament to Sean Dyche and his players that they have managed to fight off relegation again despite the points deductions.
The Toffees manager will be looking to help the club kick on next season in what is set to be their last campaign at Goodison Park before moving into their new stadium on Bramley-Moore Dock.

Any on-field progress, however, could be dictated by what happens in the incoming transfer window, with outgoings likely to be on the cards as the club looks to balance the books.
There is expected to be interest in the likes of Jarrod Branthwaite and Amadou Onana after several top clubs have been linked with moves for the star duo in recent months.
