Everton striker attempts to recreate Merseyside derby winner
By Emma Sanders
Romelu Lukaku was filmed attempting to recreate Phil Jagielka’s Merseyside winning goal in 2014 and he was successful on his fourth attempt.
The Everton defender scored a sensational goal when he found the top corner of the net late in stoppage time during the 1-1 draw against Liverpool.
It was during the 2013-14 season when Brendan Rodgers’ side were mounting a serious title challenge but fell at the last hurdle when Steven Gerrard’s slip proved costly against Chelsea in a 2-0 defeat.

The two teams are due to go head-to-head in the Premier League next Monday and Lukaku will be hoping to produce a similarly impressive strike to the one he managed to produce on his fourth attempt in the #GoalsRecreated challenge set by BT Sport.
Lukaku, who is fourth in the Premier League leading scorers chart this season with nine goals, scored a brace on Saturday but it wasn’t enough to give his side a victory as Watford rode a late second-half comeback from Everton to secure a 3-2 victory at Vicarage Road.

The Blues’ have now won just one of their last nine Premier League fixtures and will go into the derby as underdogs to Jurgen Klopp’s side.
However, Liverpool have also suffered a slight dip in form. Their 2-2 draw against West Ham on Sunday followed on from a unexpected defeat against Bournemouth as the Cherries’ Nathan Ake scored a dramatic late winner in the 4-3 encounter last Sunday.
In other Everton news, Jagielka should be recalled to the best possible Everton starting XI against Sunderland.
