Everton takeover: Dan Friedkin deal could now be completed – Stefan Borson
Dan Friedkin is much more likely to complete an Everton takeover than John Textor if he’s found a solution to some of the issues that previously led to him pulling out of talks.
That is the view of finance expert Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider a deal with Friedkin is much easier to do because he’s done more due diligence into matters at Goodison Park.
The Friedkin Group was handed exclusivity in June after agreeing a deal in principle with Everton owner Farhad Moshiri to take on his 94.1-per-cent stake in the club.
But risks associated to the £200million loan provided to the Merseysiders by former prospective owner 777 Partners to pay the operating costs led to the deal collapsing.
Textor has since entered into a period of exclusivity to buy the club and has admitted he is confident of completing a takeover deal before the agreed 30 November deadline.
But one complication is the 58-year-old’s stake in Crystal Palace, with Premier League rules forbidding ownership of two clubs in the same division.
Bloomberg reported on 16 September Friedkin has now reignited his plan to buy Everton after walking away from a deal two months ago.
Dan Friedkin could complete Everton takeover quicker
Borson suggested the US billionaire could potentially get a deal over the line quicker than his compatriot following his previous efforts to buy the club.
“Friedkin is clearly a much easier deal to do than Textor,” Borson told Football Insider.
“He’s got £200million of debt in there already and he’s probably done more due diligence than Textor has done.

“We understand Textor can’t yet do due diligence because he holds the Crystal Palace shares.
“I would think if Friedkin is interested again and has got his head around some of the issues, then he’s a much more likely buyer I think.”
